The 2nd generation RepRap MendelMax machine. It features a simplified design and uses anodized aluminum plates, rather than 3D printed plastic parts that are easier to assemble. Its successor is the MendelMax 3.
The MendelMax 2 has been a great printer. It runs flawlessly and any print failures are usually my fault. Paired with an e3d hot end you can use just about any material out there. Putting it together isn't for the faint of heart but you will get a good understanding of how it works, which helps to diagnose any problems. The instructions are also pretty comprehensive. High speed printing tends to introduce vibration wobbles in straight edges but otherwise print quality is great.
Excellent machine and value resulting from a long evolution of the RepRap designs. Is very versatile, but also a clean straightforward design. A great tool for anyone who wants to design, engineer, and create.
The MendelMax 2 is a great printer and highly recommended. It has its issues but overall is very fast, precise and reliable
